Brick Hangars

A Type

Designed in 1924. Length of 250ft, span of 120ft. Hipped roofs.

Netheravon. Other examples include Mildenhall and North Weald. Not many others.

C Type

Here's a selection of pictures of C Type hangars, including some basic plans. These hangars were built during the 'expansion period' of the 1930s.

These plans give the dimensions and structural details nicely. Most C Type hangars are of the hipped variety.

A nice shot of one at Bircham Newton. Most C Types have a row of buildings along either side (workshops etc) but most are single storey not two storey as in this picture.

A shell at Burtonwood before demolition a few years ago.

Strange to think this is now Norwhich Airport!

Leconfield - Worth looking at just for the Lightnings :)

Marham.

Middle Wallop.
