British Hangars

Early Hangars

WWI

There were quite a number of different designs in use during WWI; most of which do not survive to this day (many were canvas affairs). The most important design is probably the 1917 pattern GS shed (universally known as the Belfast due to its Belfast wooden truss method of roof support). These have curved roofs and good examples exist at Duxford, Old Sarum and the RAF Museum at Hendon. I ain't got a picture of one!

F Type
