Big Metal Hangars

T2, B1 and Friends

The T2 and B1 are probably the most common of the metal hangars. Many survive all over the country. Designed late 30s/early 40s. T2s were usually 240ft long with a 115ft span (there was also a T1 and T3 of the same length and spans of 95 and 66ft respectively - I don't think there's many of these around). No dimensions for the B1 but they're gonna be similar to the T2.

A useful shot from Seighford, Staffs. The T2 is on the left with the approx 20 deg roof slope and the B1 on the right with a 45 deg or so roof slope.

Other similar types are the A1 (looks like a B1) and Bellman (looks like a T2).

Callender-Hamilton

Worth a separate entry from the T2,B1 and friends as these look a little different:

Same sort of date and dimensions to a T2. This one's at Atcham near Shrewsbury. The only ones I can remember seeing are at East Fortune.
