ZD992 is operated by 899 Squadron judging by its code of 724, although it does not carry the unit's famous "Winged Fist" emblem on its tail. It looks rather striking in the all-over gloss black scheme adopted as standard for fast-jet trainers by the UK armed forces to help prevent mid-air collisions. In trials it surprisingly proved to be the most visible scheme.
